Our autumn programme starts on Sunday 7 October with a historical walk around Sandford led by Ben Buxton and Pat Andrews. Meet in the car park of The Sandford pub at 2pm. This will be a leisurely walk of about 2 miles on pavements and heathland paths. This event is free. (Ben Buxton will also be leading a guided walk on Sandford Heath for Back From The Brink/Plantlife, on 24 October, 2pm. We hold our AGM on Monday 15 October, 7.30pm in the Labour Club, Keysworth Drive, Sandford. The brief AGM will be followed by two short talks: Sheila Watters on the men commemorated on the Sandford and Holton Heath war memorial, and Dr Lena Ward on wildlife in the garden. Suggested donation of £2 towards hall hire and refreshments. On Monday 26 November, 7.30pm in the Labour Club, Dr Nigel Webb will give a talk, Heathlands: Natural or Unnatural? (note: posptponed from 19 November). Suggested donation of £2.
